DESCRIPTION:A Bookhouse Presentation: \nFrom the Ottoman Empire to the Turkish Republic. \nA Brazilian Perspective\nA Four-Part Series by a Brazilian historian\, Monique Sochaczewski \n“This introductory course reflects a broadening of Centro Primo Levi’s focus from nationalism and the rise of Fascism to the era marked by the Great War\, the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire\, and the rise of the ideals of nation-state and self-determination that still loom large in what came to be known as the “Middle East”. \nThe course is taught by Monique Sochaczewski\, a Brazilian historian who specializes in the relations between Brazil and the Ottoman Empire and is also an observer of current events often featured by Brazilian media.
