DESCRIPTION:The American Sephardi Federation and the Moise Safra Center present: \nSeeking Home through a Culinary Lens From the Tigris to the Thames\nJoin the American Sephardi Federation and the Moise Safra Center for a special afternoon with artist and food writer Linda Dangoor\, author of From the Tigris to the Thames\, in conversation with award-winning novelist and journalist Esther Chehebar. \nFollowing the conversation\, Linda will give a culinary demonstration\, bringing the flavors and traditions of her book to life. \nThe afternoon will conclude with an audience Q&A and book signing. \nThursday\, 8 October at 1:00PM\n\n@Moise Safra Center\n130 E 82nd Street\, NYC\nBorn in Baghdad\, Linda Dangoor explores the meaning of home\, memory\, and belonging through the language of food. Her latest book is part memoir and part cookbook-a rich tapestry of recipes and personal reflections tracing her Baghdadi heritage and the journey of a culinary tradition across generations and geographies. \n\nEsther Chehebar\, author of the acclaimed novel Sisters of Fortune and a regular contributor to Tablet Magazine on Syrian Jewish culture and tradition\, will sit down with Linda for a conversation about food as a keeper of memory\, the experience of leaving one home and creating another\, and the ways recipes can preserve family and cultural identity.

DESCRIPTION:The Western Wind Vocal Ensemble and Ansche Chesed in partnership with the American Sephardi Federation present: \nMazal Bueno: A Portrait in Song of the Spanish Jews\nThe program was created 1992 for National Public Radio (NPR) to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the expulsion of the Jews from Spain. It was presented on Ladino Day in February 2025 by the American Sephardi Federation and The Sephardic Foundation on Aging. \nJulie Benko\, Broadway star of Funny Girl and Harmony\, joins the Grammy-nominated Western Wind Vocal Ensemble\, Cantor Natasha Hirschhorn\, and guest artists to present Mazal Bueno: A Portrait in Song of the Spanish Jews. The narration\, by Jane Mushabac\, is dedicated to the memory of her grandmother\, Djoya Mushabac (1877-1958)\, from the Dardanelles in Turkey.
