DESCRIPTION:A Lecture presented by the Ackman & Ziff Family Genealogy Institute at Center for Jewish History and American Sephardi Federation \nSarina Roffé\, founder of the Sephardic Heritage Project and an expert on Brooklyn’s Sephardic Jewish community\, traces the journey of the Kassins\, a rabbinic dynasty with rumored Converso heritage\, from Spain to modern Brooklyn\, using traditional genealogy methodology as well as DNA testing. Roffé also explores the claims that some descendants are rabbis who serve a secret Jewish community in Ireland. SUMMARY:The Merchant of Venice
DESCRIPTION:Back by popular demand\, David Serero’s Sephardi adaptation of William Shakespeare’s classic play on love\, bigotry\, and commerce\, The Merchant of Venice. \n“This condensation has more spirit and verve than many of the longer interpretations that I have seen in recent years….Serero\, and the entire cast\, deserve kudos for this fresh interpretation. With the addition of pianist Noriko Sunamoto on stage\, this is a Merchant that sings in a Sephardic key but can speak to everybody.” \n~ Deirdre Donovan\, CurtainUp Review\, 17 January 2016
